SUPPORTKomoro no Wa — a general incorporated association

From abandoned farmland to future vineyard

The vineyard spreading across the hillside under a blue sky, hills and houses beyond

We are restoring the farmland going out of use across Komoro as vineyard, and building a winery that can process the fruit here in the area. We are raising the funds that keep restored land in use.

BACKGROUNDWhy this project

Abandoned farmland grown over with trees and grass, a person standing in it

Clearing abandoned land is not the finish line

There is neglected land all around our own vineyard. As growers age the area will only widen, and left alone it drags down the yield of the plots beside it.

But clearing abandoned farmland is not the finish line. Some land was restored once with public money, then fell out of use and reverted to scrub. It only counts once the restored land stays in use and earns its keep — so alongside the vineyard we are building the winery that receives the fruit.

MONEYHow funds are used

From clearing and planting to the equipment that keeps the land in use

Funds go to clearing and planting abandoned land, and to the facilities and equipment needed to keep it working as vineyard over the long term.

FORWhat funds are used for

  • Ground works: felling, stump removal, levelling and soil improvement

  • Buying and planting vines

  • Buying and installing vineyard materials

  • Investment in the cellar equipment the harvest requires

  • Programmes combining farming with disability employment

  • Communicating the work and its results

  • Research into sustainable farming
